Rasht is an Eastern district of the Districts of Republican Subordination in Tajikistan. The center of Rasht District is situated on the right bank of Surkhob River. In 2001, the District was renamed with its historical name Rasht. The valleys of Kamarob, Yasman and Hoit are among the best and most beautiful places in Rasht. The natural resources of Rasht include coal, aluminum, marble, fresh and mineral water. There are many species of plants that grow there, each with a unique purpose and taste. The locals say that the traditional foods and dishes that are made with the «right» mix of these plants are «miraculous». Those dishes include Oshu Burida, Umoch, Ugro, Umochi Shiry, Mastoba, Siyohalaf, Birinjoba and Halilob, Khonuma. A group of women led by Chaman Sobirova from Rasht, are joining their efforts and experience together to create a famous traditional dish «Oshi Burida», that uses the following herbal plants: basil, mint, fennel and parsley.
